Review/update employee info
Run reports for year-end (Employee Details, Payroll Details, Payroll Wage and Tax Summary)
Review employee data (name, address, social security numbers)
Make sure that all employee paychecks have been recorded (handwritten, termination, and bonus checks)
Verify employee wage and benefit information
Review employee sick and vacation settings
Review local taxes and tax settings

Order year-end supplies
Order W-2 forms and envelopes (if necessary)
Order compliance posters

Prepare and File Payroll Tax Forms and Payments
Prepare and distribute employees' W-2s
File employees' W-2s with the agency
Review and record all state unemployment (SUI) payments
File other federal forms (for example, 941, 940)
File state forms (forms and due dates vary by state)

Prepare for the 2011 tax year
Update SDI/SUI rate changes (effective January 1)
Review and update federal and state deposit schedule changes
