Step 1 — Download the IIF from Intuit Full Service Payroll

  1. On the Home page, under Related Activities, click Export to QuickBooks.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop > Export my Intuit Full Service Payroll information to a downloadable IIF (Intuit Interchange Format) file.

If you're a Mac user, select QuickBooks Mac Desktop 2016.

  3. Map your Intuit Full Service Payroll transactions to your QuickBooks chart of accounts. These are the accounts within your chart of accounts that you want to send your payroll data to.
  4. Once you've selected your accounts, click Finish!.
  5. If you've created any manual entries in QuickBooks for payrolls created in Intuit Full Service Payroll, back up your company file and delete these entries.

Intuit Full Service Payroll sends and itemizes payroll data to QuickBooks a certain way and it's best to delete any manual entries for easy reconciliation. We'll send all existing Intuit Full Service Payroll data to QuickBooks after your next payroll run.

Step 2 — Import the IIF file into QuickBooks

  1. On the Home page, click Export to QuickBooks.
If you receive a status 404 error, clear your browser’s temporary internet files and cookies and try again.
  2. Click Export in the Export to QuickBooks window.
  3. Save the file to your computer.

Windows users: DO NOT click Open or the file will become corrupted and will not import correctly.

To avoid duplication, we recommend that you always use the same file name and overwrite the previous export file.
