We remind you when federal tax forms are due. We remind you by email and on the To Do page.
To file a tax form:
If you're signed up for our electronic services
- Make your tax payment, if there's one that corresponds to your tax form.
- Go here.
(Or click the To Do tab.) - Click the tax form that you want to file. (It's usually under It's time to file forms.)
- On the page for the tax form, click View. If any questions appear, answer them.
- Review the information on the tax form. To print a copy for yourself, right-click in the tax form window and choose Print (or for Mac, press Command-P).
- Close the tax form window.
- Return to the page for the tax form, make sure the File Electronically checkbox is selected, and click Submit.
We automatically archive a copy of the form.
If you're not signed up for our electronic services:

- Review the information on the tax form.
- Right-click in the tax form window and choose Print (or for Mac, press Command-P).
- Sign and send the tax form. You can find the address to send the tax form on the instructions page, which is usually the last page when you print the tax form.
- Close the tax form window.
- Return to the page for the tax form, and click Archive to save a copy of the form.
Forms W-2 are a special case. You don't need to sign up for our electronic services to electronically file Forms W-2. For more information, see Form W-2: Preparing and filing for federal.
