First payroll steps

When you start out with QuickBooks Online Payroll, these are some tasks you might need to do:

• Learn three basic tasks of payroll
• Pay employees
• Make a tax payment
• Add a new employee
• Set up direct deposit for your company
• Set up vacation and sick policies for all employees
• Set up more ways to pay employees, like overtime, tips, or commission pay

Check your preferences

It's always a good idea to check out your preferences. With QuickBooks Online Payroll, you can choose options for email reminders, paycheck steps, and print settings:

1. Click your company name at the top right, click Payroll Settings, and then click Preferences.
2. Step through the tabs and make your changes.
