Year end: Credit reduction states (FUTA rate)

The Federal government has identified four (4) states on its websites that are facing FUTA (Federal Unemployment Tax Act) credit reductions for 2017. For details, see FUTA Credit Reduction on the IRS website.

The FUTA tax is a federal unemployment tax paid solely by the employer. Together with the state unemployment tax systems, the federal unemployment tax helps fund unemployment compensation to workers who have lost their jobs.
